What is Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga?

At DDY, we specialize in Power Vinyasa Yoga as inspired by Baron Baptiste. A global force, Baron Baptiste has been influential on the international and American yoga scene for over two decades.  His message and the methodology of Baptiste Yoga have produced powerful results with hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, and his work continues to be a source of enormous influence across the planet.

Baptiste Yoga was founded in the 1940′s by Walt Baptiste and through his son Baron, it has evolved into a practice that holds true to the spirit of its creation while remaining accessible to anyone today.  The physical aspects of Baptiste Yoga style are inspired by the hatha yoga teachings of Krishnamacharya and his students Iyengar and Desikachar, whom Baron Baptiste studied with personally from a young age.

Our classes are heated to encourage opening and detoxification of the body and the mind. Our POWER classes are heated to around 90 degrees and allow you to safely achieve serious sweat and deep release on many levels and our other classes are kept around 82 degrees.

"You and your team at Dancing Dogs Yoga have helped me get to a level of competition that I did not know was possible. I started competitions 5 years ago in Triathlons which is a Swim/Bike/Run competition. As you know the training can be intense during our season that typically runs March to November. I was introduced to Yoga thru the Yoga for Runners classes that you put on last November. I came off a very successful season but also took a lot of work by a massage therapist and Chiropractor to keep me healthy enough to race. Weekly visits to both were normal for me. After taking your class in November I found that Yoga gave me a more intense workout than I knew possible. Over the next few months I started to notice a change, the change was that I no longer needed Massages or Adjustments to keep me running. Even more so I started to see my speed increase and times decrease. This season I have already ran 6 races with improved results and now have a National Ranking of 15th in my age group and have set several Personal Bests along the way. Thank you for my new found exposure to your world and thank you for keeping me off the tables in doctor’s offices and massage therapist studios!"
